Your Mission, Should You Choose To Accept it…

Years ago, the television show Mission Impossible always began with a scene in which the team leader, Mr. Phelps, would receive a tape describing his next mission. The tape invariably began, "Your mission, should you choose to accept it..." No matter how silly the rest of the show became, this single line reveals a keener understanding of human nature than is displayed by most product development organizations.

Your Mission, should you choose to accept it…

Person on Tape : [voice on tape] Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The people you are looking at have become useless catatonics from being used as guinea pigs in experiments with a compound called B-230. It is a super hypnotic, mind-controlling drug being developed by this man, Dr. Karl Turek. The solution to Turek's problem of B-230's catatonic side effects is in the hands of two disloyal American scientists, Dr. Arthur Jarvis and his wife, Vera, who have undergone plastic surgery. Their defection in Geneva is now being arranged by this man, Colonel Borodin. Once they are working together, Turek's country will soon have the power to enslave the free world. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to stop Turek and B-230. As always, should you or any of your IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

So how do you get on a mission? Thankfully, both the M:I franchise and business leaders have provided ample guidance over the years. Here are four steps you can follow today to articulate and accomplish your mission, Mission: Impossible style.

At this point this entire process should feel pretty familiar. After completing the weekly season story quest, open up the H.E.L.M. destination menu and select the Operation: Archimedes mission. Fight your way through the Warmind bunker, defeat the boss, and then interact with the sonsole at the end to download the last Cryptographic Index.

Your statement should convey an idea that you and your team can rally around, but does that mean it should be a group project? Probably not. Take time for introspection and put your own ideas on paper first. You need to begin by knowing your own heart. After all, it's your practice and you're ultimately responsible for charting a course and setting the tone.

Reflect on your priorities before inviting others' input or cluttering your mind with too many words. You can't live someone else's mission, regardless of how terrific it sounds. Cut-and-paste mission statements can fail you; worse yet, you can fail them.

Test it. Before you share it with the world, let your completed statement sink in for a few days. Then return to employees who participated in its development and ask them to say it to you. Did it come to them easily? If you worked on it together, the underlying message should be familiar, even if they can't repeat it verbatim. If the spirit and intent has already slipped their minds, you probably have more work to do.

As usual, should you or any member of your mission team be captured, the secretary will disavow any knowledge of your existence. This tape will self-destruct in five second. Good luck wonderful readers! ?

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to join Ween for 3 nights (Oct 30, Oct 31 & Nov 1) at the Mission Ballroom in Denver, CO. Presale tickets will be available starting tomorrow, Wed, July 17 at 10am MT (password: mushroom).

But our mission is not to be covert; instead we have a mission to convert. And like the television show, we too should have a sense of urgency in our mission to reach to the lost. Every believer in Christ must choose to embrace the mission and make it his own.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find the HII regions for which the SDSS has acquired spectra. This information will allow you to study HII regions in detail, learn how well our Photo program works, and give us a comparison for when we start using a new, and hopefully improved, version of Photo.

The game is afoot to ferret out the realm of detective and spy literature at the Rosenbach. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to explore early mystery stories, examine an original cypher belonging to a female Civil War spy, and exercise your sleuthing skills to detect a forgery. 076b4e4f54
