Little Nightmares is also amazing for being an indie game developed by a relatively small studio without a big budget and big marketing campaign, and it shows just how important the concept is to the design and execution. It isnt uncommon to see a game that looks impressive in concept, and then be almost disappointed with how it comes out, because there wasnt quite enough polish. In Little Nightmaress case, its just the other way round. It was one of the most impressive experiences I have had in a while, and well worth the $10 I spent on it.

But then again, you can also just play Little Nightmares itself and run around while trying to survive the end of the world. Its as fantastical and weird as its predecessor, and though I cant speak to the game as a whole, its already really engrossing. From the moment I opened the game, I could tell that something was going to be special. And then I entered the Womb.

But as an adventure puzzle game, there's also some fun and a lot of weird as you find yourself trying to navigate systems and use items in new and unexpected ways to make progress. The result is an unique experience, whether you're playing as a kid who likes working puzzles of the type some find frustrating, as an adult who wants a piece of escape, or somewhere in between. Overall, it feels very much like something in between the likes of the iPhone / iPad hacking tool and other puzzle games.

Little Nightmares and its downloadable content are a mixed bag. The first half of the game is fairly weak, with a very simple story and long periods of walking around, allowing many players to lose interest. Also, the graphics are somewhat on the weak side, with the character models not very detailed and animations very simple.
